Lavender for Period Pain

People in studies inhaled lavender for 30 minutes a day for the first 3 days of menstruation. Start up to two days before menstruation and continue for the first 3 days of the menstruation cycle.

Adverse Reactions

Lavender is usually well tolerated when used in typical doses.
Orally, lavender oil may cause gastrointestinal upset. Tincture of lavender may cause constipation, headache, and increased appetite.


Anti-hypertensive drugs. Be cautious with this combination.
Barbiturates. Be cautious with this combination.
